This is a documentary about Whapmagoostui, Quebec. It’s shot scruffy and short with a handheld dslr, a camera that didn’t mind being tugged out onto the ice, shoved on the back of pick up trucks and into campfires. The closer the better. The focus is on the young generation. Specifically, those beyond the truth and reconciliation talks of their parents and grandparents. It’s about young first nations and inuit people asserting native identities within and without their home reserves. “young narratives” hones in on these changes as they are taking place.
The second focus is the one you can hear ticking in the background as the cold CANON adjusts itself.
